CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!
Young ladies, young men, fellow Excelsiorians

Let us wish a Happy Birthday to Ms. Constance Pearl Morgan, the former Excelsior High School History Teacher, Vice Principal and Director of the Excelsior Education Centre (EXED) who marks her 98th birthday today.

Ms. Morgan is reportedly in the pink of health as she continues to enjoy her retirement after more than six decades of being associated with Excelsior.

In her heyday, the intrepid, no-nonsense disciplinarian and educator extraordinaire drove fear into generations of misbehaving Excelsior students who are now all the better for having come under her influence. Her notorious clapping -both corrective and attention-getting- sometimes felt like a jolt of electricity coursing through one’s being.

Plus, just her withering stare was enough to set the most wayward student straight. Yet, her stern veneer masks a warmth, sensitivity, gentleness and soft side that was not always apparent to alumni while they were at school, but which they have come to appreciate in later years. After leaving school, many would also come to discover a hitherto unknown, ready, disarming smile that punctured her tough reputation.

As she inches toward a well-deserved century, we laud Ms. Morgan and we are compelled to extend heartfelt gratitude to her for her decades-long contribution to our alma mater and wish her many more years of good health
