Excelsior’s Under-19 Girls Table Tennis Team has earned a place in the semi-finals of the ISSA (Inter-Secondary School Sports Association) competition, to be played on Wednesday, March 9, in the Excelsior School Auditorium.
The team comprising national representative Onieika Francis (captain), Brianna Blake, and Keelia Howell secured their semi-final berth after defeating Ardenne High School in the previous round.
On their run to the semi-finals, the Excelsior team enjoyed a season-long rich vein of form, highlighted by a 3–1 home-and-away victory over St. Jago, and back-to-back 3–0 victories (home and away) over St. Andrew’s High.
The team eventually finished second in its group, with one of the few blemishes on its record being an away loss to defending champions Campion College, before advancing to the semi-finals scheduled for tomorrow.
Campion College faces Ardenne High in the other semi-final.
