WASHINGTON, DC — Kenneth “Dirty Harry” Davy, former Excelsior High School Manning Cup football stalwart is set to be inducted into Howard University Athletic Hall of Fame on September 30, 2022.

The signal honour comes on the back of an outstanding collegiate career at Howard University where he was a four- year starter for the indomitable Bisons football team from 1976 to 1980.

Preceding that, he represented Excelsior High School from 1971 to 1973 in the schoolboys Manning Cup Football Competiton. While representing Excelsior, and later the national Jamaica Juvenile team, Davy was renowned as a forthright and rugged defender who took no prisoners.

He acquired the moniker “Dirty Harry” as a result of his prowess as a defender and because some of his tackles were deemed by some opponents to be barely legal.
During a standout football career at Excelsior, Davy was on a surefire path to All-Manning, and possibly All-Schools selection in 1972 when the competition was suspended mid-season and banned entirely in 1973.

Nonetheless, any lingering disappointment was partially salved when he was selected to the Jamaica national U19 team to represent the nation in a CONCACAF tournament in Canada in 1973.

Following a career during which he also represented Cavaliers Football Club and Pembroke Hall FC, he earned a football scholarship to Howard University in Washington, DC. He graduated from Howard in May 1980 with Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health and Physical Education. Davy recently retired after a career as a middle school teacher.

He will be at least the third Excelsiorian to be enshrined in the Howard University Athletic Hall of Fame in recent years, following the induction in 2018 of Desmond “Shaks” Shakespeare and Dennis Smellie.

Kenneth will be joined by an older brother, Michael Davy, who played on the Bisons 1974 championship football team as a Class of 2022 inductee into the Howard University Athletics Hall of Fame.

The Howard University Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled to be held Friday, September 30, 2022 in Greenbelt, Maryland
